Vegetation of the Republic of Khakassia has more than fifteen hundred species of a wide variety of plants. Most of the territory of Khakassia is occupied by forests (about two-thirds of its entire area), most of the forests are in mountain forests. In the forests of Khakassia, coniferous tree species predominate: spruce, cedar, fir, pine. There are also deciduous trees - aspen, larch, birch.
The steppe occupies about 20% of the territory of Khakassia. On the territory of the steppes, there is a huge number (about 300 species) of plants that are medicinal (yarrow, St. John's wort, medicinal ointment, etc.). In Khakassia also grow plants listed in the Red Book: heather ordinary, bell Altai, Venin shoe, adonis spring and many others.
